Why do you need to refine your equipment?
Once level 50 and after doing your Chaos Dungeon, you will normally have a set of equipment offered in a chest. This one will be level 302. You will notice however that the third of the following dungeons are blocked, and require better object level so that you can access it. Once a piece of equipment has been refined, you will then have to confirm everything. If everything goes well the first few times, it will be much less rosy from level 7. Indeed, your % chance will go from 100 to 90%, then 80 thereafter, then 70… which will sometimes make you fail your refinement attempt. You will then have to try again, with an improved % following your failure, however, to give yourself a better chance of succeeding.

Do (lots of) Chaos Dungeons and Guardian Dungeons
This will by far be your top priority when logging into the game, if you want to upgrade your gear. These 2 activities will bring you enough materials to evolve quite quickly. You can do them alone or with others. And even after exhausting the bonuses, you can keep doing them to collect Fragments of perception exchangeable for materials in limited quantities.
Make secondary character(s)
You should know that you can absolutely play the game with a single character. However, with the possibility of recovering 3 level 50 characters in a few minutes, it would be a shame to miss out. In Lost Ark, the secondary characters greatly accelerate your development, because you will be able to do the chaos and guardian dungeons with them, and send the materials to your main character. We strongly advise you to do so.
Do all the islands
The world of Lost Ark is gigantic, and there are many islands. And on the latter, you recover a large quantity of various materials, mainly via the quests which are on the latter. In addition, these will also allow you to unlock content such as mounts, music…
Wait until you refine your secondary character’s equipment!
Very important information not necessarily known to all: It is very important to focus on getting only one of your characters to equipment level 600 for a very simple reason. Once Yorn’s questline is complete, level up to Gear Level 802 through dungeons, then go to your fortress. You can then search for 2 new upgrades in your laboratory.
The first will improve your chances of success by improving your equipment from level 1 to 15, on all your characters. The second improvement will allow you to reduce the amount of Shards of Harmony 20% on all your characters, always on equipment from 1 to 15. So wait for these improvements so as not to waste materials!
