Overflowing with clothes, medicine, diapers and other necessities, these pile up under the gaze of a statue of the Virgin at the far end of the great hall of Guardian Angel, a church in Little Odessa, the Russian-speaking district of southern Brooklyn located on the edge of the Atlantic (like Odessa on the shores of the Black Sea).
