
Inspection. Before leaving the besieged city, a resident was checked by a pro-Russian militiaman from the armed forces of the “Donetsk People’s Republic” on March 17.

Resilience. On March 7, a week before the attack on the Mariupol theater and its bomb shelter, a mother and her child found refuge, like many Ukrainians, in one of the improvised shelters in the city’s basements.

Tenacity. On March 18, a resident moves into devastated Mariupol. Two days later, Ukraine will reject Putin’s ultimatum demanding the city’s surrender.
