The reception center for refugees, SOS Ukraine Montpellier and Red Cross, is based in the premises of the Olympic swimming pool in Antigone.
The Montpellier convoy was in contact throughout its journey with SOS Ukraine Montpellier, to prepare for the arrival of the refugees: “It was not easy, we had to see with the services of the prefecture to accommodate families at the hotel”explains Anastasiya Galinier, the treasurer of the association.
And for good reason, on Sunday, the center was full of 80 places available under small tents set up in the gymnasium adjoining the swimming pool. First of all, Ukrainians are subjected to a covid test: “They are then directed to the office of the prefecture for the first administrative procedures”, says Lisa, a facilitator. Accommodation, meals everything is explained. Several translators ensure good communication with each other.
