To On the occasion of the visit of the Italian Prime Minister, Mario Draghi, to Algiers on Monday April 11, an agreement was signed between the two Algerian and Italian majors, Sonatrach and ENI, to “accelerate the development of natural gas production projects, by combining the efforts of the two companies, and increasing the volumes of gas exported by using the available capacities of the Enrico Mattei gas pipeline (Transmed)”.
This gas pipeline, co-managed by Sonatrach and ENI, has a capacity of 32 billion cubic meters while Algeria only exports a maximum of 22 billion cubic meters.
Algeria supplied Italy with some 20 billion cubic meters, or around 27% of Italy’s gas needs. This volume is therefore called upon to be increased. According to our sources, it will be 3 billion meters…
