Game News Hitman 3: New modes, VR, Ray-tracing, Rogue-like… Agent 47 strengthens its arsenal in 2022

Last November, the developers of IO Interactive announced a series of good news about their famous hitman: record sales and plenty of new things for 2022. We had to wait a few weeks to find out more, but there it is is: year 2 of the game just revealed the upcoming additions!

In a single trilogy, IO Interactive has managed to bring together countless players dreaming of slipping into the skin of the barcode assassin. After relentlessly tracking down the Seven Deadly Sins in a long series of DLCs, Agent 47 doesn’t consider retiring so easily. Indeed, the IO Interactive studio does have other plans for the hitman and many new features will punctuate the whole of 2022. In parallel with the launch of the Hitman trilogy, scheduled for January 20, the second year of monitoring of the game also launches hostilities.

Stop controlling Agent 47, become it!

For the tech-savvy, the teams working on the World of Assassination trilogy have thought of everything since PC virtual reality support will be available from January 20. The developers had already informed us of this addition during the month of November, but we finally know the availability of this new feature. As IO Interactive explains, the goal was to reconcile “ PC VR gamers’ expectations for interaction and gameplay, while retaining the style and freedom of the franchise “. To achieve this goal, the developers have made it a point of honor to offer controls as intuitive and natural as possible!

Still in terms of technology, Hitman will receive, later in the year, many improvements that should delight players since Ray-tracing will join the arsenal of the hitman to enhance the different places he will cross during his missions. Also in partnership with Intel, the game will also benefit from XeSS and VRS technology allowing, respectively, to boost the image quality as well as the performance on PC.

The rogue-like, Agent 47’s new weapon

Last November, the members of IO Interactive promised us something new about Elusive Target mode. Thus, from January 20, the concept goes up a notch with new challenges and new rewards to get back. Among the important changes, we note that each arcade contract requires you to shoot down your targets successively, one after the other. When you complete a contract, another one is available but to this one will be added some constraints, and so on.. Note that in case of failure, you will have to wait 12 hours to restart your series of assassinations.

For the other big novelty of the year 2022, we will have to come back in spring. It is during this period that will be launched the “Freelancer” mode, an unprecedented experience that borrows certain elements from the genre of rogue-like ! Within a new card, namely agent’s hideout 47 that you can also customize, you can choose what kind of hitman do you want to be ! The more you progress in the mode, the more you will have access to new areas and options.

However, exploring the hideout is not the only facet of this mode: in a mission hub, you will be able to play the different campaigns by planning the order of your missions. Between each of them, you will refuel at the hideout and plan your next contract. However, the equipment is not persistent: so remember to bring back whatever you want, otherwise you will not be able to find it!
