A Frenchman died in Ukraine in “fighting” says the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Officially, he is the first fighter from France to die in the country.

The news fell at the end of the afternoon this Friday, June 3, 2022. A Frenchman died in Ukraine, killed in fighting. An announcement made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and relayed by AFP.

France offers its “condolences”

“We learned the sad news that a Frenchman had been mortally wounded in fighting in Ukraine. We offer our condolences to his family,” confirms the Quai d’Orsay. For the moment the exact circumstances of his death are not specified.

The information was initially announced by Europe 1 Thursday evening. According to our colleagues, the French would have been “mortally wounded by artillery fire”. He was a member of the Ukrainian International Defense Legion and took part in the operations of the Ukrainian army against Russia. He would have died in the Kharkiv region in the northeast of the country.
