Game News Souldiers: A physical version of the Metroidvania is becoming clearer
Just landed earlier this month, Souldiers is available for all fans of the Metroidvania genre, no matter how demanding. And it may well be that the game will soon join the toy library of some collectors…
A canning but not for everyone
The news had fallen even before the release date originally scheduled for May 19, 2022, Souldiers will indeed be entitled to its physical versionenough to delight the most refractory players to dematerialized.
Since then, the release of the game has been postponed to June 2, 2022 and, on the strength of its success, Spanish independent development studio Retro Forge Games, Just For Games and Pix’n Love have confirmed their collaboration to offer a physical edition. If the game is available through the respective digital stores of several platforms such as PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One, this will not be the case for this materialized version. Indeed, only the Nintendo and Sony toy libraries will be able to accommodate an additional game box since this version is only planned for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch.
Still a little patience
If the physical version of Souldiers has therefore been firmly awaited for a while by some players, the latter only had an exit window set for the second quarter of 2022 to wait. Today, the output is a little more precise and finds its date around the end of September 2022.
For those who don’t know the game yet, Souldiers is similar to a platform game tinged with action and which imprints some elements from the RPG. Rich in its varied but demanding Souls-like gameplay, the title pays homage to the 16-bit generation with an artistic direction made in pixel art for a particularly successful retro style. This makes Souldiers a game relatively well received by players or by the press, as confirmed by our test.
