Game News CD Projekt: Multiplayer in the game of The Molasses Flood, The Witcher ideal candidate?
A few weeks ago, CD Projekt gave an update on their plans, saying The Witcher 3’s next-gen update will arrive later this year, Cyberpunk 2077’s expansion has the majority of developers busy, and that a small team was beginning to assemble for other projects, including the newly announced The Witcher.

CD Projekt launched a major overhaul of its organization, and took the opportunity to shop. In March 2021, the Polish studio offered itself Digital Scapeswhich became CD Projekt Vancouver, then acquired The Molasses Flood at the end of the year. The job advertisements mention a game made with Unreal Enginelike The Witcher: A New Saga Begins, and above all remind us that the project is “based on one of CD Projekt’s licenses”. However, CD Projekt’s licenses are basically The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077. It is therefore very likely that the project under development is based on one of the two licensesknowing that that it will contain multiplayer ! Indeed, in one of the recent announcements, we can read:
CD Projekt RED is looking for a Multiplayer Designer to support The Molasses Flood in the development of their own ambitious project based on one of CD Projekt’s licenses. The recruited person will have to create engaging multiplayer features, game modes and stories, and think them through from concept to implementation. The designer will report to the Lead multiplayer designer, and will work with the design director, and other designers from different disciplines, to build creative, balanced and fun multiplayer experiences.
A multiplayer spin-off of The Witcher approaching?
With a new AAA installment of The Witcher in development, you’d think The Molasses Flood’s project is about Cyberpunk 2077. However, our colleagues at gamer think it’s good the universe of the witcher who holds the rope. Why ? First, CD Projekt announced plans to bring multiplayer to Cyberpunk 2077 well before the takeover by The Molasses Flood, and the idea currently seems in a drawer. Additionally, Adam Kiciński, CEO of the company, has confirmed that the company is considering adding multiplayer to its Cyberpunk 2077 franchises. ET The Witcher in the years to come.
There is also talk of a leveling system and armed and bare-handed combat, but this can correspond to both licenses. Taken together, these elements make the most probable thing that this project containing multiplayer is related to The Witcher. Some players are already imagining a kind of MMO à la The Elder Scrolls Online, but nothing allows us to imagine it for the moment. However, the studio hasn’t announced anything about it yet, and we’re not not immune to the announcement of a new license. In any case, you will have to be patient, because priority is given to the extension of Cyberpunk 2077 and to “other projects” including the next The Witcher.
