Tonight, it’s the big night ! It’s the opening of the Summer Game Fest 2022 and therefore the arrival of a shower of announcements. To help you not miss anything of the evening, we offer below a Live Feed as well as a summary which will list minute by minute all the small and big announcements. Happy Summer Game Fest to all!

The Last of Us Remake, Call of Duty, Alien… An intense show

And it was a successful show! Even if the event took its time during the first minutes to reveal what we thought were its big cartridges, quickly, the Summer Game Fest 2022 accelerated the pace to chain the announcements, and what we can say, it’s only announcements, we’ve had them. For nearly two hours, the event leaked over thirty games. The whole thing opened with Guile gameplay from Street Fighter 6. But ultimately, this is not necessarily what we remember, but rather the few games announced later, starting with Alien: Dark Descent. This brand new production, like The Ascent, offers players the opportunity to play as a team to face many enemies from above.

That’s not all, the Summer Game Fest continued with a long gameplay sequence from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 where we can see Captain Price and his friends blow everything up on an oil station. Guaranteed spectacle, especially since the license, with this new opus, seems more beautiful than ever.

The third big surprise of the conference is The Callisto Protocol! Indeed, even if we knew beforehand that the game was going to be shown this evening during the Summer Game Fest 2022, we were not prepared to see it land with such a promising gameplay extract. More than ever, the title takes the qualities of the Dead Space games to offer players a scary and bloody space horror game. There are also gameplay ideas from The Last of Us Part II, especially when looking at the melee sequences.

We could then have told you about the surprises of the evening such as Honkai: Star Rail, One Piece Odyssey, Warhammer 40,000: Darktide or the free demo of Saints Row (2022), but in the end our eyes naturally fell on Naughty Dog and its many projects. Eh yes, the developer from Sony has confirmed the arrival of The Last of Us Remake which will be called, hold on tight, The Last of Us Part I. This new proposal expected on PlayStation 5 from September 2, then later on PC, will allow players to (re)discover this iconic adventure of the video game industry in its best light. The game will indeed benefit from improved graphics, but also from modernized gameplay and a multitude of accessibility options. Naughty Dog also took advantage of the conference to formalize the stand-alone multiplayer license The Last of Us. Unfortunately, we don’t have more information about it, except that it’s a big game and the title will be presented more extensively next year. You will therefore have to be patient.

The joy of horror games

The Summer Game Fest 2022 also gave pride of place to horrific productions, since in addition to Alien: Dark Descent and The Callisto Protocol, the event to give news of The Quarry (the new production from the creators of Until Dawn) which will be released on all our favorite media tomorrow morning and Metal: Hellsinger which was entitled to a demo. But in the end, it was mainly two titles that caught our attention: Routine and Layers of Fear.

The first is a horror production that will arrive directly on the Game Pass. It invites players to wander through the dark corridors of a ship while escaping evil robots. If the pitch is not extremely hectic, its atmosphere seems successful. The horror game is greatly inspired by Alien: Isolation, which is not displeasing to us and also offers photo-realistic images. Moreover, Layers of Fear, the next project of the Bloober Team, also offers photo-realistic visuals. This new opus exclusive to the PC and the next-gen seems to benefit from an incredibly striking universe… Unfortunately, we will have to be patient since the title is expected for 2023.

A rain of indie and the return of a great French classic

We end with the independent games that were numerous this evening, and we start with TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge which has finally revealed its release date (June 16) and which announced the arrival of a new hero (Casey Jones). Then, we make a little room for The Delicious Last Course, Cuphead’s DLC, which confirms its arrival at the end of the month or even Highwater and American Arcadia. The first invites us to wander in a post-apocalyptic world while offering a dreamlike vision and the second is inspired by the film The Island or the game Inside. We look forward.

The other big announcements concern the arrival of Midnight Fight Express in the Game Pass from August 23, then the launch of Humankind on consoles. Besides, the game also has a new DLC which offers to embody six new factions which all come from Latin America. Finally, we are going to tell you about the new Microids project which quite simply proposes to revive an iconic license: Flashback. Indeed, the franchise is not in 1992 will make its big comeback at the end of the year with the launch of Flashback 2.
