Game News Sonic Frontiers: Boss fight, new features… full information on the new hedgehog adventure
For the past few days, the game Sonic Frontiers has been arousing our curiosity by revealing many gameplay images here and there. Today, the promising open-world returns once again to the front of the stage to reveal a brand new trailer and lots of information!
Towards spectacular fights?
It was during Sonic Central, a conference dedicated to our friend Sonic’s next projects, and through a preview written by IGN, that Sonic Frontiers was talked about again… and what we can say, c is that we had the right to a rain of information and even a new trailer.
In this trailer (available above), we can see Sonic face many bosses, and that’s good, since according to the latest paper from IGN, the clashes will take an important place in this brand new Sonic game. Indeed, even if Sonic Frontiers remains above all a 3D platformer in an open world, the title also offers spectacular fights. In Sonic Frontiers, our favorite blue hedgehog has the right to many combat skills: he can of course jump on his enemies as before, but also use the Cyloop attack that surrounds his opponents or perform a rain of blows. On the defense side, the hedgehog can also dodge and even parry.
That’s not all, we also learn that Sonic will be able to defeat his opponents in several different ways especially during boss fights. For example, to beat a gigantic enemy with a shell, it is either possible to block the attacks at the right time to retaliate or to use the Cyloop to make its shell fly and thus put the enemy in a delicate situation.
To finish with the fights, Sonic Frontiers, like many RPGs, will offer scalable gameplay since as the blue hedgehog gains experience, the player will be able to buy new skills in a talent tree. Unfortunately, these skills have not yet been revealed by SEGA.
Sonic, alone, facing a gigantic “open area”
In this adventure, Sonic will be alone! Indeed, he was separated from his companions Tails and Amy when the three of them dove into a wormhole. Our hero therefore finds himself isolated from everything on a gigantic green isolated island which is described by Takashi Iizuka, the president of Sonic Team, as an “open zone”. not an open world.
The open worlds of games like Zelda or other AAAs are basically adventure or RPG worlds. For Sonic, the heart remains the 3D action. Our basic idea was that it would take place in an open space. What sets Sonic Frontiers apart is this different take on the open game world. Takashi Iizuka, President of Sonic Team via IGN
However, this open area will still be gigantic and will allow the blue hedgehog to fully use its speed to explore this universe or to participate in races against the clock. Moreover, it is by winning these or by solving many puzzles that are in the decor that the game area will expand and offer new horizons to visit. In addition to the open area, Sonic Frontiers will also offer fans “classic” levels, therefore more linear, which will include optional objectives such as “finish the level as quickly as possible”, “collect all the red rings”, etc.
As a reminder, Sonic Frontiers is still expected for the end of 2022 on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S and Nintendo Switch.
