Game news RollerDrome: halfway between Max Payne and Jet Set Radio, the new game from the creators of OlliOlli is revealed

After the very nice OlliOlli, the Roll7 studio presents its brand new project, RollerDrome. It’s still a ride game, yes, but this time with guns and baddies. You had to think about it.

Roll a skate aggressively

Roll7 is a small English studio that is slowly starting to grow. Their first breakthrough was OlliOlli, a minimalist and hyper-demanding 2D skateboarding game that received several awards. Its sequel was also very well received, then the firm moved up a gear with the recently released OlliOlli World, which offered modernized technique and a singular artistic direction. A successful one.

The love of skateboarding seems unconditional and, more generally, of extreme and urban sports: so much so that their brand new project called RollerDrome will this time explore the field of roller skating. But not just anyhow no, since the principle will be to explode his enemies with firearms while performing tricks in ultra-mediatized arenas.

A concept that won’t age?

Sony’s State of Play unveiled this brand new game, and for good reason: it is a temporary PlayStation exclusive on the home console side, being planned first on PC, PS5 and PS4 for the first six months. After that, a release on other platforms can be considered.

Note also a particular artistic direction that some will say inspired by Sable (who himself had drawn on the style of comic book designer Mobius), others by OlliOlli World, for an explosive result. The gameplay then relies on bullet-time shooting phases as well as acrobatics, making RollerDrome a game of both ride and brutal action. It is frankly interesting.

The good news is that we won’t have to wait very long since the software is already scheduled for August 16, 2022. See you this summer, then.
