Game news Call of Duty on Xbox Game Pass: Would Microsoft be about to add the games?

Since the takeover of Activision-Blizzard by Microsoft has been announced, players in the Xbox community have clearly expected Call of Duty to land on Xbox Game Pass, but this is still not the case. Could things change very soon?

Gestures that put the chip in the ear

The acquisition of Activision-Blizzard by Microsoft was a real thunderclap that no one expected. Concluded for a huge sum of money, the deal will however be effective in 2023 and until then, the American publisher will continue to act “normally”, maintaining for example its good agreement with Sony for Modern Warfare 2. For example, the latter would grant betas in preview on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, to the chagrin of Xbox players.

However, this does not prevent Microsoft and Activision from preparing for some nice bangs. The very recent actions of the American manufacturer have notably given rise to an enticing theory, like what some episodes of the franchise would soon be arriving on the Xbox Game Pass. In question, the arrival of titles like Black Ops Cold War and Modern Warfare (as well as Diablo II Resurrected, also from Activision-Blizzard) in the “Xbox Game Pass Deals” section of the Microsoft Store.

Coded message

If some are wondering, it’s because Similar actions had been observed with Bethesda games, when the latter was bought by Microsoft: the apps had first benefited from promotions in this same category of the digital store…before being integrated into the Xbox Game Pass catalog. So could history be about to repeat itself with Call of Duty? Some frankly like to think so.

As a matter of fact, we will have to expect that some episodes, probably older, land on Microsoft’s famous service. This would give him a massive weapon against Sony who, however, would continue to enjoy exclusive offers for the next three Call of Duty, according to recent rumors. A partnership that would last until around 2025!
