Game news Sonic Frontiers: “a major turning point for the next ten years” according to the producer
Scheduled for the end of the year, Sonic Frontiers marks the long-awaited return of the most famous video game hedgehog. While the promotion of the title is in full swing this month of June, Takashi Iizuka, the historic producer of the series, continues to talk about the work of his teams. According to the gentleman, Sonic Frontiers would mark a major turning point for the series.
SEGA’s big bet
Sonic is obviously one of the most famous figures in video game history. SEGA’s mascot will soon be back with Sonic Frontiers, the franchise’s first “Open-World” game. If the title displays great ambitions for the license, it must be said that SEGA is betting very big with Sonic Frontiers.
The publisher recently presented these expectations in terms of reception around his new game, hoping to reach 80/100 or even 90/100 Metacritic score. A high objective, which testifies to a real desire to put the famous blue hedgehog back on the front of the video game scene. However, the return of the community does not seem to correspond to these expectations for the moment. The first shared gameplay images have been widely commented on and seem, for the moment, to be having trouble convincing players.
Returns that did not discourage Takashi Iizuka, historical producer of the saga and director of Team Sonic. For him, players currently lack perspective and do not necessarily understand what they are dealing with with Sonic Frontiers. In this month of June loaded with announcements, the producer spoke widely about his new title. Its recent declarations testify to total confidence in the work of its teams. For Takashi Iizuka, Sonic Frontiers is a real turning point for the license.
“A major turning point” for Sonic
It was during a recent interview with VentureBeat that the producer has once again expressed his confidence in his game. Takashi Iizuka once again states that players do not necessarily understand what they see, and wishes to insist on the innovation that Sonic Frontiers represents for the license.
What we are doing is the next step. It’s almost the third generation. We know we’re showing fans something new that may not make sense to them right now. But we really wanted to think about what was needed for Sonic for the next ten years. What kind of gameplay do we need to develop to keep the audience excited in the future? Sonic Frontiers is the next step for the next ten years. We hope fans believe in us and appreciate what we show them. We can’t wait for the time when players can play it and really understand what it’s all about.
Not only does SEGA have high hopes for its new software, but the director of Sonic Team hints that the game should set the standard for Sonic games for the next ten years. We already know that the public has not yet been entitled to everything that Sonic Frontiers could offer. It is therefore hoped that the game will live up to these statements. Find out later this year when Sonic Frontiers releases on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch.
