The Head of State is expected this Tuesday, June 14 in Romania, then Wednesday in Moldova.

Gain height in every sense of the word. This is the movement that seems to be adopted by the Head of State who inaugurated, on Monday, the Eurosatory land armament fair.

A way for him to slip back into his costume as head of the Armies, abandoning that of leader of the legislative campaign. This Monday, he thus announced that he wanted to reassess “the military programming law in the light of the geopolitical context”.

“In a war economy”

The Head of State believes that France had “entered a war economy in which I believe we will organize ourselves for the long term” and “in which we can no longer live with the grammar of a year ago”.

A way, for the President, to recall the worrying context during which the electoral deadlines take place and to bring the French to compare, under this prism, his majority and that which Jean-Luc Mélenchon could lead.

This Tuesday morning, the Head of State flew to Romania to keep his promise to meet the French troops who are positioned there. On Wednesday, he will travel to Moldova, a few hundred kilometers from Odessa.

The country, where more than 80,000 Ukrainian refugees are still amassed, has been experiencing very serious energy tensions since the start of the crisis. Emmanuel Macron will be accompanied by two of his most political ministers, Sébastien Lecornu, Minister for the Armed Forces and Clément Beaune, Minister for Europe. But there is no question of officially speaking of the legislative elections.

The tenant of the Élysée takes the height not to feed the anti-Macron front that Jean-Luc Mélenchon tries to constitute.

A trip to Ukraine not excluded

Expected in Romania and Moldova, will Emmanuel Macron also visit Ukraine this week? “I do not exclude anything,” replied the Head of State, in his interview given on June 4 to our newspaper and other regional press titles. Another possible hypothesis is that of a joint visit by the French president to kyiv with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi by the end of the month.
