Before attending the new adventures of Spider-Man played by Tom Holland, the editorial staff of HelloSolar.info invites you to (re) discover all the Spider-Man films in order to answer the following question: which is the best? film adaptation of the weaver to date?
Spiderman
Spiderman, released in 2002, is the first film in Sam Raimi’s trilogy. This one puts in scene Tobey Maguire in the role of Peter Parker and Kirsten Dunst in that of Mary-Jane, his beloved. The ratings speak for themselves. With a resounding 90% for the press on Rotten Tomatoes, the feature film was a resounding success, and is among the highest rated Spider-Man films by media and viewers alike. He thus paved the way for future superhero adaptations and is, even today, considered a classic of the genre.

Spider-man 2
Let’s move on to the second film in Sam Raimi’s trilogy. Spider-man 2 is considered one of the best superheroic adaptations ever made, even in 2021, with ratings that speak for themselves (7.3 / 10 on IMDB, 4.6 / 5 for the press on Allociné). After the Green Goblin, it’s Dr. Octopus’ turn to tackle our favorite spider. Another iconic villain for an extremely well-received feature film. Critics salute an ever more careful production and cult scenes in shambles including that of the skytrain which will remain etched forever in the memory of spectators. In view of the success of the first two films, the following one could only be a success. Unfortunately, fate decided otherwise.

Spider-man 3
The conclusion of the trilogy signed Sam Raimi was not unanimous … far from it with a ringing and stumbling 63% for the press on Rotten Tomatoes and even a 59% on Metacritic. The recipe for success was there. We even got two cult villains for the price of one, the Sandman and the Venom symbiote. But too many antagonists sometimes spoil the story. Spider-man 3 got lost in a way, serving the audience as an adaptation to surprising scriptwriting choices. The good ideas were there, as with Tobey Maguire taking advantage of Venom’s abilities, but the execution wasn’t necessarily there.

The Amazing Spider-Man
After Tobey Maguire left the costume, actor Andrew Garfield donned it in 2012 for the reboot The Amazing Spider-Man directed by Marc Webb. Two big changes were to be noted for this film: no more Mary-Jane, but Gwen Stacy played by Emma Stone and more of J. Jonah Jameson, the angry reporter from Le Bugle. Far from being as well received as Sam Raimi’s first two feature films, this reboot still met its audience. Especially since he did not rely on the easy solution, that is to say, used the Green Goblin from the start, and preferred to highlight another villain popular with insiders: the Lizard.

The Amazing Spider-Man: A Hero’s Fate
With this sequel released in 2014, things got a bit tricky for Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man. Like Spider-Man 3, two villains share the limelight: Electro and the Green Goblin. Antagonists who seemed to be a safe bet, but not enough to satisfy the fans. Taking a 52% on Rotten Tomatoes and a 3.0 / 5 on Allociné from the press, The Amazing Spider-Man: A Hero’s Fate, without being a catastrophic film, did not meet the expected success. So much so that the originally planned trilogy was canceled. The American actor never wore the costume again. At least, so far if some theories about Spider-Man: No Way Home are to be believed.

Spider-Man: Homecoming
The MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe), started in 2008, welcomes many characters from the Marvel universe. Spider-Man, unlike Iron Man or Black Widow, took a little longer to enter this universe. More specifically, its first appearance dates back to 2016, when the movie Captain America: Civil War was released. It is now the young actor Tom Holland who slips into the skin of the weaver. His dedicated film, Spider-Man Homecoming, finally arrives a year later. Here, change of direction, it is a Spider-Man more naive and childish which is proposed to us and this, with a new Mary-Jane embodied by Zendaya. The film was quite well received and the villain in the person of the Vulture was greeted in particular thanks to the performance of Michael Keaton. In general, the lighter tone appealed to the public and the media, as evidenced by the 92% for the press on Rotten Tomatoes, the 7.4 / 10 on IMDB or even the 73% on Metacritic.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse
Of all the weaver’s adaptations of recent years, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is the only one to take the form of an animated film. This feature film even makes the daring bet to focus not on Peter Parker, but on Miles Morales. Warning, drum roll: if you haven’t compared the paintings with each other, look no further, the best rated is this film! The press and the spectators are formal. We have here, according to the ratings, the best Spider-Man film ever made to date (November 2021) with proof of 8.0 / 10 from the public on SensCritique and a 97% from the press on Rotten Tomatoes. It is also the highest Metacritic average, reaching 87% against, for comparison, 83% for Spider-Man 2. We can say that No Way Home is going to have to pull out all the stops if it wishes to match or even exceed this. Titan.

Spider-Man: Far From Home
Going back to the MCU and Tom Holland, before No Way Home we had Spider-Man: Far From Home in 2019. New sets, new villain, many references to other superheroes, great means were out to do honor to the weaver. As for the notes, it is complicated to know which one surpasses the other. According to the media, the two are the same or just exceed each other (73% Metacritic average for the first film, 69% for the second). Will the next one end the Tom Holland era in the most beautiful way? Response on December 15, 2021.
