The English Channel is becoming what the Mediterranean has been for years: an open tomb for migrants. The deaths of at least 27 of them – 17 men, 7 women and 3 children – off the French coast on Wednesday is just the worst toll of a problem that has been increasing for three years. According to Guardian, which quotes British government sources, at least 14 people have drowned since 2018, before this recent tragedy.
