Summer Game Fest 2022: Starfield, Forza, Diablo 4... the recap of announcements from Xbox and Bethesda!

Microsoft was expected at the turn after announcing many games these last years. Many of them were indeed at the rendezvous with a single watchword: all announced games will be released within the next 12 months, mostly on the Game Pass. Let’s start at the end, with Starfield, which was THE big expectation. The game has finally unveiled gameplay, with space exploration, gameplay, character and base customization, avatar creation and progression, but also crafting. Bethesda announces a hundred different systems and about a thousand explorable planets.

The other Bethesda game which is not TESO or Fallout 76 and which was present is Redfall, the new game from the developers of Prey. The open world full of vampires has unveiled new gameplay footage and confirmed to be released in 2023.

We continue with a major announcement, that of the arrival of the main games of Riot Games on Game Pass this winter. League of Legends, League of Legends: Wild Rift, Valorant, Legends of Runeterra and Teamfight Tactics will indeed be available on the service. The first three will be offered with all released characters, the third with the Foundations pack, and the last with a selection of cards.

We were waiting for news from Forza Motorsport, and we got it! Turn 10 has arrived with gameplay footage and an exit window, set for 2023. The idea is obviously to make the title a technical showcase, with real-time ray tracing, precise damage management, changing lighting during the day, realistic rubber management and many other elements. Aside, Scorn, the terrifying horror game inspired by the works of HG Giger (Alien), finally got a release date. So it will happen October 21, 2022 !

The takeover is not yet done, but Blizzard was present at the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase. First, via Overwatch 2, which we learned will be released in free-to-play early access from October 4th. The opportunity also to announce a new character, the Junker Queen !

But that was not all, since Diablo IV also passed a head during the conference, and did not pretend! After a trailer introducing the necromancerwe were treated to new images of the game to illustrate things already presented, but above all, we were entitled to an exit window! Diablo IV will therefore be released on PC and Xbox Series in 2023 ! The exact date has not yet been announced. Come on, let’s conclude this part with the return of Hollow Knight, which will arrive like almost all the games presented (except Blizzard games, for the moment) in the Game Pass as soon as it is released! No release date, but a new trailer.

The Game Pass more than ever at the heart of the strategy, with Hideo Kojima!

The other announcements to remember, with exclusions

We will quickly discuss the games already released with new content. The first is therefore Microsoft Flight Simulator, which will be entitled to an update celebrating the 40th anniversary of the license, and which today adds the Pelican ship from Halo. Forza Horizon 5, like the 3, will have on its right side to an expansion made in partnership with Hot Wheels who will happen July 19.

In terms of new features, we note in particular certain exclusives, such as Ara: History Untold, the action and strategy game Minecraft Legends (which is an exception since it will also be released on PlayStation and Switch), The Last Case of Benedict Fox, the narrative game As Dusk Falls, Ravenlock or even Penance, the new Obsidian game! We also note the announcement of Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, the next title from Team Ninja! expected for early 2023, it is an action game set in an Asian universe very inspired by Chinese mythology. For the moment, we do not know if it will be released elsewhere than within the Xbox ecosystem.

Avowed, Fable, State of Decay 3: The great absentees of the evening

Summer Game Fest 2022: Starfield, Forza, Diablo 4... the recap of announcements from Xbox and Bethesda!

Among the big expectations was Avowed, the RPG developed by Obsidian. Unfortunately, the latter stayed warm at the studio, which first presented Pentiment, scheduled for November 2022. We suspected it, but Fable, developed by Playground Games (Forza Horizon), gave no news and will not be released before June 2023.

Same thing for State of Decay 3, announced in 2020, and which does not seem still not ready to point the tip of his nose. Contraband, whose brand was recently renewed, as well as Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II Perfect Dark or Everwild were not mentioned during the conference. For news of this title, will have to wait for another conferencethis year, next year, or later.
