From 2012 to 2015, Lions Gate Films ignited cinemas with adaptations of Hunger Games, the series of eponymous novels by Suzanne Collins. In a totalitarian world, citizens from different districts must compete each year in a bloody game show.
There can only be one winner, and this game keeps the people in constant anguish. Obviously, things will start to degenerate, the inhabitants of Panem having decided to revolt following the death of a young girl under the eyes of Katniss Everdeen, who volunteered to replace her sister and which gradually becomes the symbol of rebellion.

We won’t tell you more in case you haven’t seen the films, and anyway, what interests us today is The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, the adaptation of the prequel from The Hunger Games. The book, again written by Suzanne Collins, is released in 2020 and takes place 64 years before the events from The Hunger Games. The Hunger Games: The Ballad of the Serpent and the Songbirdfrom its title translated into French, tells the youth of Coriolanus Snowwho later became the tyrannical President of Panem.
Realized by Francis Lawrencewho has already taken care of conflagration, so The Revolt Part 1 and 2and written by Michael Leslie, the film was planned even before the release of the book, which denotes the firm intention of exploiting a license that has become cult for many readers and spectators. Last week we learned that the actor who will play Snow has been chosen, and that it is Tom Blythknown for having been the main actor of the series Billy the Kid. He will therefore take on a role previously attributed to Donald Sutherland, with the heavy task of embodying his past. Erin Westerman, president of Production, Lionsgate’s film group, commented on the announcement:
Tom Blyth is an explosively rising talent whose captivating and charismatic presence makes him an exciting and perfect actor for the title role.
A date for the prequel
In The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, we will therefore follow in the footsteps of a 18 year old Coriolanus Snow, and heir to a family that is gradually losing its social status. He becomes Lucy Gray Baird’s mentor, who hails from District 12 for the 10th Hunger Games zt who defies authority by daring to sing publicly. A situation which is igniting public opinion, or rather what is left of it, and which opens a gap to power in which Snow intends to engulf.
It remains to know who will play Lucy, the second main character of the feature film. On the other hand, we know that the film will be released on November 17, 2023 in the United Stateswhich brings us to November 15 or November 22 in France, with releases always taking place on Wednesdays in France.
