The humanitarian convoy that left Castelnau-le-Lez last Friday continues its journey. He established a new base camp at Korczowa, a huge commercial center transformed into a reception area, on the Ukrainian border.
The huge Korczowa Dolina shopping center was transformed as soon as the Russian army invaded Ukraine into a reception center for Ukrainian refugees. Two kilometers away is the border. The A4 highway that connects Lviv to Ukraine is closed.
Only buses shuttle between the border post and Korczowa. At the height of the flight a few weeks ago, 10,000 Ukrainians found refuge here. Currently, 2,500 exiles are awaiting transfer.
Ukrainians, families and the elderly, get off the buses before a first identity checkpoint. Once inside the huge commercial areas have been transformed into dormitories.
Outside dozens of chemical toilets. The cleaning teams are constantly cleaning the common areas. The supermarket in the area, which has remained open, offers everything.
On the cots, everyone kills time as best they can. The children have fun in the vast corridors of the shopping arcade. There is a catering point, a medical reception, operators like Orange distribute prepaid cards.

In a corner of the center, French volunteers take care of the France pole. The map of France hangs on the wall. Montpellier, Marseille, Tarbes are proposed as exile destinations. There is also Germany, Poland which offer departures. On a wall, the contact of the Japanese Embassy, for consular assistance.
Outside, a Lorraine paramedic takes emergency vehicles to the border to drop them off for Ukrainians to pick them up.
