Lamborghini Moves Towards Electric Cars With New Sián Model

Italian sports car manufacturer, Lamborghini, has announced its intentions to begin production of its new electric super sports car. A giant step forward for the Italian car company deeply rooted in traditional petrol engines.

The Lamborghini Sián is the name of the latest car from Lamborghini. Company executives claim it will be the fastest Lamborghini of all time. A pretty significant statement for a company known for speed and style.

The preliminary stats for the super car include a 785 horsepower V12 engine and a 34 horsepower electric motor. A hybrid unit that produces a combined thermal and electric power of 819 horsepower (602 kilowatts).

 

 

Lamborghini CEO Stefano Domenicali said in a statement, “Not only does the Sián deliver a formidable hyper-car design and engineering tour de force today, it augments the potential for Lamborghini as a super sports car brand for tomorrow and for decades to come. As hybridization becomes more desirable and inevitably essential… the Lamborghini Sián represents the first step in Lamborghini’s route to electrification, and expedites our next-generation V12 engine.”

 

 

The Sián boosts some pretty impressive technology too. The super car is set to feature the world’s first application of a super-capacitor for hybridization, developed to store 10 times the power of a lithium-ion battery of the same weight.

Weighing in at just 34 kilograms, the Sián’s powertrain is able to accelerate from zero to 62 miles per hour in under 2.8 seconds, offering the lowest ever weight-to-power ratio of the Lamborghini V12 family.

This one is definitely going to be a sight to see on the road. But what else would you expect from Lamborghini.
